Circle Pines, MN Real Estate

Circle Pines can best be described as a city with a rural appearance but a suburban feel. As one drives into the community, the question becomes, "And, where are the pines?" This city's interesting history explains the curious phenomenon of a city named Circle Pines that predominantly houses elms and oaks. Circle Pines was initially conceived in 1946 as a cooperative township with residents owning shares in all the facilities and services. A somewhat optimistic vision, the cooperative only lasted three years due to financing problems and disagreements among the leaders. The only remnants of those early cooperative days are the name; a pine tree within a circle is the symbol for cooperatives, and a natural gas distribution company.

Circle Pines is predominantly a residential community with homes ranging from beautiful, new town homes, condos and single-family walk-out ramblers to the more well-lived in variety-multiple and split levels-and a price range for almost any budget. This could be a nice community for a young couple purchasing their first home together and/or planning to start a family. Since it's only 15 minutes from the amenities of Downtown Minneapolis, you'll be close to the entertainment and nightlife options on a Friday or Saturday night, but you'll have the luxury of coming home to a more peaceful, family-friendly community the rest of the week.

Circle Pines is a great place to rejuvenate after that stressful day at the office. Since the community was originally built as a cooperative with all homes located on the edge of a lake or nature reserve (as ordained by the original housing plans of the town), many homes are sit atop picturesque plots with woods or wetlands either on the property or nearby.

For all your outdoor recreation needs, Rice Creek Chain County Regional Park Reserve is located a few miles up the road. The 2,550 acres of woods and wetlands includes hiking, biking and cross country skiing trails, eight lakes, golf course, nature center, swimming beach, fishing piers, access points and a campground. If you just don't feel like making the trip into the City for Friday night happy hour, there's Barley John's Brewpub, your local well-kept secret. Go with the burgers and the beer sampler and take it outside to the little patio out back and enjoy the summer nights around a wood-burning stove under the barley vines.
