Maple Grove, MN Real Estate

Maple Grove is a fast-growing community that got her start growing potatoes and running creameries and saw mills. By 1915 the center of commerce for the community was comprised of a few general stores, the Great Northern Depot, and a cheese factory. Maple Grove has seen tremendous growth since then, with the biggest boom coming immediately after World War II. Maple Grove was incorporated as a city in 1974.

Maple Grove is typical, sprawling suburb community with lots of family-oriented recreational activities. One of the major advantages of this area is the 1,000 acres of city parks and 35 miles of walking and biking trails. Maple Grove houses four regional parks maintained by the Three Rivers Park District. Combined, these areas offer over 5,000 acres of land, 25 miles of trails, a chlorinated upland swimming pond, snow tubing/skiing and boarding, swimming beaches, boat access, and golf course.

A major recreational area is Weaver Lake Park, offering beach, picnic areas, sand volleyball, biking and running trails and a fishing pier. The community comes together to enjoy a summer and winter farmers' market, one of the few off-season markets in the area. It features comfort foods for those cold winter months: artisan bread, fresh meat products, eggs, jams and jellies, sweets, canned goods, salsas, maple syrup, honey, fresh baked goods and homemade dog treats. The Maple Grove Arboretum presents over 100 local, hearty trees across a picturesque landscape for either the casual observer to enjoy, or for educational pursuits.

There are movie theaters conveniently located, a community center with gymnasiums, indoor playground with four climbing levels to bring the kids to on a rainy day, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an ice arena and outdoor skate park as well as Teen Center. The young and unattached might find Alleygators, a all-in-one bowling alley, nightclub and bar, a lively place to let off steam on a Friday night; or stop in at J. Cousineau's after work for a game of darts and happy hour apps., or during Monday night football for the free chili bar at halftime!

Major thoroughfares in Maple Grove that provide express access to Minneapolis are Interstate 494, 694, and 94, placing Maple Grove on the ever-expanding I-94 corridor as the closest "major" city to the metro area, and ensuring that this community continues to grow. Maple Grove boasts mainly newer, upscale homes and town homes in quaint subdivisions that promote a strong sense of community.

Homes are ramblers and split-levels with all the fine touches. Maple Grove retail most often manifests itself as a conveniently located strip mall, with a brand new premier site recently completed: the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes features large retail as well as unique one-of-a-kind boutiques alongside a variety of dining options. This is sure to become a shopping destination for savvy and discerning shoppers across the metro. Maple Grove is a growing community that has all the convenience of the big city, but none of the hassle.
