Located on Interstate highway 94, with Highways 101, 100 and 169, all main thoroughfares to the metro area passing through, Rogers is an area of tremendous, sprawling growth, clocking an incredible 396% population growth rate from 1990 to 2000. Rogers is located entirely within the original Township of Hassan; Hassan can almost be considered a "suburb" of Rogers.

Hassan is the only official town within Hennepin County and remains a landscape of farmsteads, cultivated fields, and scattered homes and subdivisions separated by wetlands and woods. With the massive population increase in this area, Rogers' first high school came into existence in 2003, and a Hockey Arena/Activity center was erected in order to foster future generations of hockey players and fans.

Rogers is a typical Minnesota "Hockey town." Besides hockey, the population enjoys easy access to outdoor activities like fishing and hunting. The recent addition of the huge Cabela's Outfitters has made it easier than ever to find that perfect lure or matching camo. hat and coveralls combo. Hassan is home to the Crow-Hassan Park Reserve boasting an area of 2,597 acres, including 600 acres of tall-grass prairie, 18 miles of unpaved hiking trails, 11 miles, of horse trails, and an off-leash dog area.

The small community of Hanover is located on the Southwestern side of the Park Reserve and is a growing community. Rogers could easily be considered the gateway to cabin country as it's one of the last "big cities" (meaning it contains a Target store and a major chain grocery) one passes through before hitting rural Minnesota, and the small cabin towns that make up much of the state between Rogers and St. Cloud. As such, Rogers supports a number of boat and RV dealers.

Albertville Premium Outlets (formerly known as the "Albertville Outlet Mall") is a few miles down the road and offers a myriad of retail options. Unique to this area is the Ellingson Car Museum, and "Rockin' Rogers Days," a three-day music festival featuring one of Minnesota's finest marching band competitions during its Grand Parade as well as popular regional headlining bands.

Housing developments are humming along at a quick clip. Homes are typically of the rambler or craftsman style and include all the polished touches. Many people obtain the vacant lot and "choose your own adventure," selecting from a list of pre-designed floor plans and approved colors among other features.

Many finished properties include woods or wetlands on some portion of their lots and it's not uncommon to find a pole barn with a couple of horse stalls out back in several areas on the outskirts of town, a throwback to the rural origins of this city. In a city that is adolescent by area standards, hitting a major growth spurt and continuing to discover her identity, it's certain that when you check back on Rogers in a couple of months or years, the makeup of the city will have vastly changed from what it is today.
